The Authority invests in future waste management infrastructure in Northeast Lancaster County
LANCASTER, PA — The Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority (LCSWMA) has announced plans to develop a second transfer station in northeast Lancaster County. On August 27, 2026, the Authority purchased a 37-acre property in East Cocalico Township for the future facility.
As Lancaster County continues to grow, LCSWMA must expand its capacity to serve residents, businesses, and waste haulers by providing an additional location to receive and consolidate waste before it is transported for processing and disposal.
“This future facility will help LCSWMA better manage waste consolidation in a growing community while enhancing service for our customers,” said Daniel G. Youngs, LCSWMA Executive Director. “As we continue to experience increasing waste tonnage in Lancaster County, it is important that we are positioned to handle this material safely, efficiently, and responsibly.”
LCSWMA is currently in the initial planning phase for the project. Updates will be shared through the Authority’s website and social media channels as planning and development move forward.
